Atmail to acquire Virgin Media's consumer email service

Atmail has agreed to purchase Virgin Media's consumer email service, with the transaction expected to allow customers to retain their current email addresses. The deal, announced September 24, 2026, will see the service operated under Atmail's Junara brand.

The agreement reflects a wider industry trend where telecommunications companies are divesting legacy email services to focus on core connectivity offerings. Virgin Media is transferring its service to Atmail, a specialist provider with nearly 30 years of experience in email operations.

Atmail has a track record of managing such transitions, having handled email divestments for over 40 brands across 10 countries and migrating millions of mailboxes. Affected Virgin Media customers will have a 45-day window to choose to move to Junara, switch to another provider, or close their account.

Virgin Media stated the move is a responsible path forward, ensuring continuity for customers while allowing the company to prioritize investment in its broadband and mobile services. Customers opting to move to Junara will receive their first year of service free of charge.
