Atomberg, Voltas Form Joint Venture for AC Compressor Manufacturing

Indian home appliance startup Atomberg has entered into a joint venture agreement with Voltas to manufacture compressors for room air conditioners (ACs) and allied parts in India. The partnership is established through Atomberg's B2B subsidiary, Atomberg Innovation Private Limited (AIPL), and Voltas, a part of the Tata Group.

The joint venture is intended to focus on the development, manufacturing, and supply of AC compressors, with an emphasis on high energy efficiency, operational reliability, and cost competitiveness. Voltas will contribute its extensive manufacturing expertise, product development capabilities, and supply chain network, leveraging its significant market presence. Atomberg Innovation will bring its technological strengths in compressor technology, engineering, and product design to the partnership.

Voltas will serve as the anchor customer for the joint venture, ensuring a stable demand base. The entity will also have the flexibility to supply compressors to other customers, aiming for broader market participation and scale. This collaboration is expected to accelerate the localization of AC compressor manufacturing in India and improve energy efficiency standards in the sector.

Both companies anticipate the joint venture's formation to be completed following due diligence and necessary regulatory approvals. Atomberg, known for its energy-efficient BLDC fans, has been expanding its product range into various home appliances and is also preparing for a public listing.
