Atos acquires Siemens IT Services, forms IT major

Atos has completed the acquisition of Siemens IT Solutions and Services (SIS), creating a new global IT player. The transaction was approved by shareholders at an extraordinary meeting.

Paris, July 1, 2011 – Atos, an international information technology services company, announced today the completion of its acquisition of Siemens IT Solutions and Services (SIS). This move establishes Atos as a new IT champion with proforma 2010 annual revenues of EUR 8.7 billion and a workforce of 78,500 employees across 42 countries.

The transaction received overwhelming approval, with 99.99% of shareholders voting in favor at an extraordinary meeting held at Atos headquarters in Bezons. Alongside the acquisition, Atos also confirmed it has signed a significant IT outsourcing deal with Siemens worth EUR 5.5 billion over seven years, encompassing the management of all IT infrastructure, applications, and services.

The combined entity, now operating as Atos, ranks among the top ten global IT services providers. It is positioned as the fifth largest in managed services worldwide and the leading European player in the region. The acquisition of SIS significantly expands Atos's capabilities in cloud computing, with the company now managing 30 major data centers and over 900,000 SAP users.

The partnership between Atos and Siemens includes Siemens becoming a shareholder in Atos with a 15% stake, as well as becoming its largest client. Furthermore, the two companies have formed a strategic global partnership to jointly develop new IT products and solutions, each committing an investment of EUR 50 million to this collaboration. This initiative aims to strengthen innovation and secure new business opportunities.
