IT services provider Atos has successfully migrated a major customer's SAP environment to the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud. The migration process was completed during a single, brief downtime window, minimizing disruption to the customer's business operations.
The customer previously operated a large, on-premises SAP landscape, comprising a mix of virtual and physical servers and traditional storage. The objective was to update SAP applications, replace Oracle databases with HANA, enhance security, and remove constraints associated with on-premises provisioning.
Atos, an AWS Advanced Consulting Partner with 35 years of SAP solution experience and an AWS partner since 2013, designed and executed the migration. The project involved transferring multi-terabyte data to AWS over AWS Direct Connect, replacing operating system and database layers, encrypting interfaces, and upgrading SAP applications.
This transition allows the customer to leverage the scalability, security, and flexibility of the AWS cloud. The project also reduced maintenance costs and improved system performance, better supporting the company's future business objectives.
