AT&T to Sell Mexico Operations to Grupo Televisa and Fintech Holdings for $2 Billion
AT&T has agreed to sell its Mexico operations, AT&T Mexico, to Grupo Televisa and Fintech Holdings for $2 billion in cash. The divestiture allows AT&T to sharpen its focus on building its U.S. fiber and 5G networks.

AT&T announced an agreement to sell its Mexican subsidiary, AT&T Mexico, to Grupo Televisa and Fintech Holdings for $2 billion in cash at closing, subject to adjustments and contingent benefits. This strategic move allows AT&T to concentrate its investments and capital allocation on strengthening its U.S. fiber and 5G network infrastructure.
The company stated that its efforts to modernize and consolidate AT&T Mexico have positioned it for future growth, which can best be pursued by local operators. Grupo Televisa brings a strong operational presence in Mexico with its fixed-line broadband business, while Fintech Holdings contributes capital and expertise in the Mexican wireless sector.
AT&T highlighted that this transaction aligns with its long-term strategy of advancing connectivity and convergence within the United States. The company sees the evolving AI future running on converged networks with dense fiber assets, a development it intends to prioritize domestically.
The sale is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2027, pending customary closing conditions, including regulatory approvals in Mexico. AT&T anticipates no changes to the customer experience for its U.S. consumers and enterprises during this period.
