AU Small Finance Bank investigates potential data breach

AU Small Finance Bank has launched an investigation into a potential data leak involving a Salesforce-hosted platform used for managing vehicle loan data. While the bank acknowledged that limited customer information may have been exposed, it stated that its internal banking systems remain secure and fully operational.

A hacking group has claimed responsibility for the breach, alleging possession of sensitive data, including Aadhaar and PAN details, credit reports, and loan documentation. The group’s claims extend to employee records and audit logs, which contradicts the bank’s characterization of the breach as limited to specific vehicle loan data.

The hacker group has not yet released verifiable samples of the data, though it has listed the information for negotiation on a dark web forum. Independent verification of the claims remains pending. This incident adds to an increasing trend of cyberattacks targeting financial institutions across India.
