Audi A3 Sportback TFSI e Updated with Increased Power and Electric Range
Audi has updated its A3 Sportback TFSI e plug-in hybrid, more than doubling its electric-only range to up to 143 kilometers. The model also features a more powerful combustion engine and DC fast charging capability.
Ingolstadt – Audi is upgrading its A3 Sportback TFSI e plug-in hybrid with significant enhancements to its powertrain, boosting both performance and efficiency. The updated model boasts an electric-only range of up to 143 kilometers (WLTP), more than double the previous iteration, thanks to a larger 25.7 kWh (19.7 kWh net) high-voltage battery.
The new plug-in hybrid system is centered around an enhanced 1.5-liter TFSI evo2 turbocharged petrol engine, replacing the previous 1.4-liter unit. This new engine features a higher compression ratio and optimized combustion for improved efficiency. The electric motor has also been upgraded, now delivering 85 kW and 330 Nm of torque, integrated into a more robust six-speed S tronic transmission.
Audi is offering the updated A3 Sportback TFSI e in two performance variants. The A3 Sportback 40 TFSI e produces a system output of 150 kW (204 PS) and 350 Nm of torque. The sportier A3 Sportback 45 TFSI e delivers a total system output of 200 kW (272 PS) and 400 Nm, enabling it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.3 seconds.
A key addition is the capability for DC fast charging, significantly reducing charging times. Audi states the intelligent drive management has been optimized for outstanding efficiency and an enhanced electric driving experience. Production of the updated models is set to commence shortly.
