Audi Advances Digital and Sustainable Production

Automaker Audi is driving a transition towards fully connected, highly efficient, and sustainable production through digital innovation. The company is integrating new technologies, including virtual planning and the Edge Cloud 4 Production system, to modernize its manufacturing processes.

This digital shift aims to establish more efficient and flexible production environments. Audi is adopting a holistic approach, encompassing both employee involvement and automated cycles, to build future-proof, resilient value chains.

Specifically, the deployment of artificial intelligence (AI) in production and logistics is being scaled up. Audi is rolling out its proprietary cloud platform for production and implementing new AI use cases for series manufacturing. For instance, AI is being used to detect weld spatter at the Neckarsulm plant, improving quality control.

Furthermore, the company is actively developing future picking processes in collaboration with research partners. The goal is to optimize workflows and reduce employee workload by leveraging AI and robotics at the Böllinger Höfe production site.
