Audi Announces New A2 e-tron Electric Model Family

Audi has announced plans to launch the A2 e-tron, a new family of all-electric entry-level models, in fall 2026. The compact vehicles will be produced at Audi's Ingolstadt plant in Germany, expanding the brand's electric portfolio.

Gernot Döllner, CEO of Audi, revealed the A2 e-tron at the company's Annual Media Conference, stating it addresses customer demand for practical, efficient, and compact electric mobility. "We're making entry into the electric Audi world easier and more relevant than ever," Döllner said.

The A2 e-tron targets a broad international customer base, particularly in urban European markets. It is designed to appeal to buyers seeking everyday usability, sustainability, efficiency, and digital connectivity, reviving the spirit of the original Audi A2 which pioneered urban efficiency over 25 years ago.

The decision to produce the A2 e-tron in Ingolstadt signifies Audi's commitment to transforming its German facilities for electric vehicle production and securing local employment. "The A2 e-tron is crucial for our brand and also for our German home," Döllner commented.

This launch is part of Audi's ongoing model offensive, which has seen over 20 new models introduced in 2024 and 2025. The A2 e-tron, alongside the larger Q9 SUV, is intended to strategically round out Audi's portfolio at both the entry and top ends. A design sketch revealing the silhouette of the upcoming compact vehicle has already been released.
