Audi brings VR experience platform to CES 2023
Audi is launching its holoride virtual reality entertainment platform in series production at CES 2023 in Las Vegas. The technology is now available in select vehicle models.

Automaker Audi is bringing its virtual reality (VR) entertainment platform, holoride, to series production at CES 2023 in Las Vegas, taking place January 4-6. The technology, first previewed as a prototype at CES 2019, transforms vehicle interiors into experience platforms.
Audi is the first car manufacturer globally to integrate VR entertainment into series production. The technology, advanced by the startup holoride, adapts virtual content in real-time to the car's driving movements. For instance, if the vehicle turns, a virtual spaceship would also turn, and acceleration in the car speeds up the virtual action. This aims to create a more immersive gaming experience and reduce motion sickness for passengers.
Attendees at CES can experience the holoride technology through "experience rides" in the rear seats of an Audi e-tron and e-tron Sportback. A preview of the VR game "Pixel Ripped 1995: On The Road" will also be featured. Following its launch in Germany this fall, holoride is set to expand to other European markets in early 2023.
The holoride feature is available in numerous Audi models, including the A4, A5, A6, A7, A8, Q5, Q7, Q8, and e-tron series, provided they are equipped with the third-generation MIB 3 infotainment system and manufactured after a specific production date. Use of the system requires a compatible VR headset wirelessly connected to the vehicle via Bluetooth.
