Audi confirms no international export plans for its China-exclusive AUDI brand
Audi’s innovation center manager has clarified that the newly established AUDI brand, which utilizes a letter-based logo, is strictly focused on the Chinese market with no current plans for global export.
During the opening ceremony of the new Audi innovation center in Shanghai, General Manager Feng Siyuan stated that the brand’s letter-logo 'AUDI' series will remain exclusive to China. The company’s current strategy focuses on leveraging this localized product line to gain traction within the competitive Chinese electric vehicle sector.
This move is part of a broader dual-brand strategy in China, distinguishing the traditional four-ring Audi logo vehicles from the newer, China-specific AUDI letter-branded models. The initiative operates through separate partnerships, with the letter-branded line targeting intelligent, connected new energy vehicles, while the traditional four-ring brand continues to manage a broader range of premium internal combustion and electric vehicles via its partnership with FAW.
Despite the brand separation, the company confirmed that operations remain stable for existing customer service and dealership networks. Shanghai Audi will continue to sell traditional four-ring products through 2027, ensuring that service obligations for both brand lines are maintained through the ongoing transition.
