Audi integrates ChatGPT into vehicle voice control
Audi is integrating ChatGPT into its vehicles' voice control and infotainment systems, enhancing user experience and providing access to AI-powered knowledge.
Automaker Audi has begun integrating ChatGPT into its vehicles' voice control systems, utilizing Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service. This enhancement brings the AI-based conversational capability to both current and future models.
Starting in July, approximately two million Audi models manufactured since 2021 equipped with the third-generation modular infotainment system (MIB 3) will receive enhanced voice control. This allows for the use of natural language while driving, not only to control vehicle functions but also to ask general knowledge questions. New models, such as the Q6 e-tron, will benefit from the feature as part of the Cerence Chat Pro solution, which extends the Audi assistant's functionality.
Audi emphasizes that the primary goal of the ChatGPT integration is to improve driver safety by reducing the need to take eyes off the road. All queries and responses are deleted after processing to ensure data security and privacy, and ChatGPT never accesses vehicle data. In the future, the system is expected to also answer questions related to the vehicle's functions, such as tire pressure.
The implementation of this technology reflects Audi's strategy to leverage artificial intelligence for both enhancing customer experience and optimizing business processes, from design and human resources to production quality control.
