Audi Q6 e-tron Prototype Features Second-Generation Digital OLED Technology

Ingolstadt – Audi has unveiled new digital OLED technology in its Q6 e-tron prototype, enhancing lighting design, functionality, and road safety. The innovation introduces an active digital light signature that animates the headlights and rear lights in a more dynamic manner.

For the first time, customers will have the ability to select custom digital light patterns for both the front and rear lighting systems via the MMI infotainment system or the myAudi app. These personalized light signatures can also be purchased after the initial vehicle purchase as part of an optional digital light package.

The digital OLED rear lights in the Q6 e-tron are composed of six segmented OLED panels, each capable of displaying a new image every ten milliseconds. This allows the lighting system to visually represent the car's 'activity' through continuous movement. Audi anticipates this technological advancement will reshape automotive lighting design and improve vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication.

César Muntada, Head of Lighting Design at Audi, highlighted that the new technology makes the lights more vibrant and intelligent, aiming to imbue Audi vehicles with distinctive aesthetics and personality through their lighting. The Q6 e-tron will offer eight distinct selectable light patterns for drivers to customize.
