Audi reports decline in nine-month earnings and updates financial outlook
Audi recorded a significant dip in profitability for the first nine months of 2026, driven by market pressure in China and high operational costs. The automaker is now pivoting toward strict cost-cutting measures.

Audi posted an operating profit of 1.2 billion euros for the first three quarters of 2026, representing an operating margin of just 2.7 percent on 42.1 billion euros in revenue. The results reflect a difficult economic climate characterized by intensifying global competition and shifting demand in key markets.
CEO Gernot Döllner stated that the company is prioritizing structural efficiency and cost reductions to stabilize its financial position. These measures are intended to offset the impact of declining sales in China and Europe, as well as the transition costs associated with ramping up new electric vehicle platforms like the A2 e-tron.
Beyond market demand, Audi cited external pressures including rising energy costs and US trade tariffs as significant headwinds. The company is responding by streamlining its internal processes and accelerating investment in critical future technologies, such as driver assistance systems and AI-driven software.
Due to the persistent market challenges, Audi has revised its financial guidance for 2026. The group now forecasts full-year revenue between 55 and 59 billion euros, with an operating margin expected to fall within a range of 3 to 5 percent.
