Audi Starts Production of Electric Motors for PPE Platform in Győr

Audi has begun manufacturing electric motors for its Premium Platform Electric (PPE) at its facility in Győr, Hungary. These newly developed electric drive systems will be implemented first in the Audi Q6 e-tron series, with production of the PPE-based model slated to start at Audi's headquarters in Ingolstadt later this year.

The Győr plant has expanded its operations with a new 15,000-square-meter production area dedicated to electric motor components, including stators and transmission parts, as well as axle assembly for the PPE. Approximately 700 employees are involved in this operation, working in three shifts to produce up to 2,000 electric motors daily. Product testing is also conducted at the site.

Audi CEO Gernot Döllner stated that Győr is well-suited for this production due to the plant's experienced workforce, which has already produced over 400,000 electric drive systems since 2018. The Győr facility also produces drive systems for the Audi Q8 e-tron and is establishing a production line for electric motors used in Volkswagen Group vehicles based on the MEBeco platform.

Audi's commitment to sustainability is reflected in the Győr plant's operation, which has been net carbon neutral since 2020. The facility utilizes one of Europe's largest rooftop solar power systems and is a major consumer of geothermal energy in Hungary. The transportation of the electric motors from Győr to Ingolstadt is being managed by DB Cargo to ensure a carbon-neutral logistics process.
