Audi is launching a major expansion into the U.S. market by establishing its first domestic production site in Georgia. The 4 billion dollar project aims to localize the supply chain for the North American market, focusing on premium SUVs designed for local consumer demand.

Construction of the facility is scheduled to commence in 2027, with a production target of up to 200,000 vehicles annually once operations begin in the early 2030s. CEO Gernot Döllner described the investment as a necessity to improve the brand's competitive standing in the region, stating that the company has not yet reached its full potential in the U.S. market.

Gerd Walker, board member for production and logistics, emphasized that the greenfield site allows for the integration of modern manufacturing technologies from the outset. The project is anticipated to create 4,500 direct jobs while fostering growth for regional suppliers and service partners.

This move positions North America as the third major pillar of Audi's global production network, alongside its existing operations in Europe and China.
