New York โ€“ July 21, 2026 โ€“ Augustus, a fintech company building what it calls the "Global Dollar Bank," announced today it has closed a $180 million Series B funding round, achieving a $1 billion valuation.

The round was led by Tiger Global, with participation from Hummingbird, QED, and several founders of prominent fintech companies. Augustus will utilize the new capital to scale its US dollar services for international fintechs and banks across Latin America, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.

The company aims to provide direct, programmable US dollar accounts and payment rails through a modern, federally chartered bank. Augustus has received conditional approval for a national bank charter from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), enabling direct access to dollar markets without intermediaries.

Augustus has developed its proprietary core banking platform, Marble, which leverages AI for faster settlement times and 24/7 availability. The company asserts this technology differentiates it from legacy banks and other providers that have not sufficiently challenged the traditional correspondent banking model.

The company's leadership comprises experienced professionals in banking, payments, and regulatory affairs. Augustus intends to bolster the dominance of the US dollar and Euro globally amidst the development of new alternative clearing systems.
