Aurania Resources Challenges Ecuador's Proposed Mining Fee
Aurania Resources Ltd. has reported on a proposed new administrative fee for the mining sector in Ecuador. The company deems the estimated $24 million annual charge "unsupportable."

Aurania Resources Ltd. reported on a new administrative fee proposed by Ecuador's mining regulatory agency, ARCOM. The company stated the projected $24 million annual payment, due by July 31st, is "unsupportable" and approximately ten times its current annual concession fees.
The proposed fee aims to fund ARCOM's efforts to combat illegal mining, enhance oversight, and increase operational capacity. The amount each company would pay is based on concession type, size, and exploration stage.
Aurania is collaborating with Ecuador's Mining Chamber and other industry participants to inform authorities that the fee is not feasible. The company warned that implementing the fee as outlined could jeopardize the entire mining sector in Ecuador and undermine confidence in regulatory consistency.
The company has initiated discussions with the Ecuadorian government at high levels and continues to engage with the Mining Chamber to prevent the resolution's implementation and to assess further actions.
