Aurora CFO: 30,000 driverless trucks by 2030 not far-fetched
Autonomous vehicle technology company Aurora expects to have over 30,000 driverless trucks in operation by the end of 2030. The CFO states the target is achievable within the market's scope.
Aurora, a company specializing in autonomous vehicle technology, has informed investors of its projection to deploy more than 30,000 driverless trucks by the end of 2030. This initiative aims to generate $5 billion in annual revenue.
The target is considered ambitious, as Aurora anticipates finishing 2026 with only 200 driverless trucks and an annual revenue run rate of $80 million.
David Maday, Aurora's Chief Financial Officer, believes the ambitious goal is not as unattainable as it might seem. Maday stated in an interview that while 30,000 trucks represent a significant number in the autonomous driving sector, it is a relatively small figure compared to the overall truck market.
The annual production from the four major truck manufacturers indicates a substantial capacity within the industry to integrate a large fleet of autonomous trucks in the coming years.
