The allegations emerged after AI detection tools reportedly indicated a high percentage of AI authorship. Orélien himself has strongly denied all accusations, asserting that he wrote the novel independently. His publishers have also publicly stood by the author and the authenticity of his work.
"C’était ça ou mourir" depicts a teacher's escape from Haiti amid escalating gang violence, detailing his perilous journey towards sanctuary in Canada.
