Author Sabine Ebert announces new Hebamme novel for autumn 2026

Author Sabine Ebert has announced that the sixth novel in her successful historical fiction series, "Marthe. Die Erinnerungen der Hebamme," is set for release in November 2026. According to the author, the narrative will explore the childhood of the protagonist as an orphan and provide new details not covered in the previous five volumes.

First launched two decades ago, the series is set in the 12th century during the reign of Emperor Barbarossa. With over five million copies sold across the series to date, the works have become a significant fixture in the German historical fiction market. Ebert stated in an interview that she intends to author at least four more books in the future.

The 20th anniversary of the series is currently being marked by commemorative events, including guided tours through the original historical settings in the city of Freiberg. Ebert, who worked as a journalist before transitioning to historical fiction, continues to be a prominent figure in the regional literary scene.
