Autoliv completes acquisition of Italian seatbelt manufacturer MCF Safety Belts
Automotive safety systems provider Autoliv has finalized its purchase of Italy-based MCF Safety Belts, a move intended to expand its footprint in the commercial and specialty vehicle sectors.
Autoliv, Inc. has officially closed the acquisition of MCF Safety Belts S.r.l. following receipt of the necessary regulatory approvals. The Italian company specializes in the production of seatbelts for commercial, off-road, and specialty vehicle applications.
The integration of MCF Safety Belts provides Autoliv with a dedicated European production facility for low-volume and high-variant manufacturing. This capability addresses a specific segment of the automotive market that requires specialized safety components outside of the high-volume passenger vehicle standard.
This transaction aligns with Autoliv’s stated corporate strategy to diversify its portfolio by entering adjacent automotive markets. By expanding its technical reach into niche commercial vehicle segments, the company seeks to reduce reliance on mass-market passenger vehicle sales while leveraging its existing safety infrastructure.
