AV-TEST: 11 Security Packages Achieve Top Product Status for Windows 11
AV-TEST's latest review of Windows 11 security software has identified 11 out of 17 tested packages as "TOP PRODUCT". The evaluations focused on protection, performance, and usability against numerous cyber threats.
Security testing firm AV-TEST has evaluated 17 security packages for Windows 11, with 11 products earning the "TOP PRODUCT" designation in its most recent assessment. The tests, conducted in March and April 2024, rigorously examined the software's ability to defend against a wide array of digital threats.
Each security solution was challenged with nearly 20,000 new and known malware samples. The tests assessed three key areas: protection against malicious software, the impact on system performance, and overall usability. Products could achieve a maximum of 6 points in each category, for a total of 18.
Achieving at least 17.5 points out of 18 qualified a product for the "TOP PRODUCT" award and certification. The 11 products meeting this standard demonstrated strong defense capabilities without significantly slowing down the system or generating excessive false positives. The remaining six products received certification but scored between 15 and 17 points.
The tested manufacturers included Avast, AVG, Avira, Bitdefender, EnigmaSoft, ESET, F-Secure, K7 Computing, Kaspersky, McAfee, Microsoft, Microworld, Norton, PC Matic, Protected.net, Quick Heal, and Trend Micro. AV-TEST utilized the latest available versions of each product, allowing them to access online updates and cloud services throughout the testing period.
