AV-TEST: 12 Windows 11 Security Solutions Tested Against Ransomware and Info-Stealers
AV-TEST has evaluated 12 security packages and solutions for Windows 11 in its advanced ATP test. The evaluation focused on the products' ability to counter sophisticated ransomware and info-stealer attack techniques.

German IT-security institute AV-TEST has released new findings from its Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) test, evaluating 12 security products for Windows 11. The test goes beyond traditional methods, examining product performance across 10 realistic scenarios involving ransomware and info-stealers.
The ATP test specifically assesses how well security solutions defend against state-of-the-art attack techniques. These include methods like COM hijacking and reflective code loading, designed to bypass security measures. The evaluation involved both consumer and corporate security products, all tested on Windows 11.
In total, four consumer products and eight corporate endpoint solutions were subjected to the lab-simulated attacks. These attacks mimicked real-world threats, often initiated via spear-phishing emails with malicious attachments. The results indicated that while many products performed effectively, some failed to prevent data encryption or theft, highlighting ongoing challenges in cybersecurity.
AV-TEST continues to conduct these advanced tests to provide consumers and businesses with up-to-date information on the effectiveness of security software against evolving cyber threats.
