AV-TEST: Cybersecurity Research Tracks Threats in Real-Time
Cybersecurity firm AV-TEST continuously analyzes new malware and cyber threats to update defense technology. The company's AV-ATLAS platform provides real-time information on risks.

Cybersecurity firm AV-TEST has emphasized the importance of continuous research in combating cybercrime, stating that security solution vendors invest significant time and money to stay ahead of evolving cyber threats. The company's efforts focus on analyzing global cyber incidents to enhance defense capabilities.
AV-TEST collects and analyzes worldwide cyber events, utilizing artificial intelligence to identify threats. The firm's AV-ATLAS platform offers real-time data on recent risks, including malicious email attachments, phishing attempts, and scam emails. The platform also tracks the number of new malware samples and the operating systems being targeted.
Erik Heyland, Head of Testing Labs at AV-TEST, noted that the platform is free and displays the risks from the last 14 days. In this period, approximately 100,000 new dangerous emails and nearly 4 million new malware samples have been recorded.
AV-TEST also leverages its collected data for its free product tests, ensuring that security products can effectively detect the latest threats. The company also publishes an annual Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI) report, analyzing the trends in malware and distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks.
According to AV-TEST, since the turn of the millennium, the motivation behind cyberattacks has shifted from mere bragging rights to significant financial gain. Experts estimate that the global damages caused by cybercrime could reach up to $11 trillion annually, encompassing data theft, production downtimes, and lost contracts.
