Germany-based security research institute AV-TEST has released its 2019 awards, recognizing 20 software products that demonstrated high performance during year-long independent trials. The evaluation focused on detection rates for malware, system impact, and overall user experience.
The findings arrive against a backdrop of increasing cybersecurity threats, with AV-TEST’s monitoring platform reporting an average of 4.2 new malware samples per second. As cybercrime increasingly targets both corporate infrastructure and the growing ecosystem of Internet of Things (IoT) devices, the role of consistent, optimized security software has become more critical for both businesses and consumers.
In the consumer segment for Windows protection, Kaspersky and NortonLifeLock shared the top honors. For corporate security, Bitdefender and Symantec were recognized for their endpoint protection suites. The awards are distributed across several categories, including protection, performance, and usability.
