Avcon Receives FAA Approval to Replace Honeywell EGPWS on Bombardier and Learjet Aircraft
Avcon Industries has received Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) approval to install Honeywell Aerospace's MKV-A Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System (EGPWS) as a replacement for the Mark V on Bombardier and Learjet aircraft.

Olathe, Kansas – Avcon Industries, Inc. has secured Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) approval from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for the installation of Honeywell Aerospace's MKV-A Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System (EGPWS) on Bombardier and Learjet aircraft. This approval provides an upgrade path for operators of the Honeywell Mark V EGPWS computer, which Honeywell Aerospace is phasing out.
The newly approved MKV-A system is designed as a direct, "drop-in" replacement for existing Mark V installations, utilizing current avionics racks to minimize modification efforts. The FAA mandates Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning Systems (EGPWS) or Terrain Awareness and Warning Systems (TAWS) on most turbine-powered aircraft with six or more passenger seats, making this upgrade crucial for many operators of affected Bombardier and Learjet models.
The STC, AML STC No. ST12439CH, covers Learjet Models 40/45 and 60, as well as several Bombardier CL-600 and BD-700 series aircraft. Avcon Industries is currently pursuing validation and approval of this STC from aviation authorities in Canada, the European Union, and the United Kingdom.
