Avolon finalizes order for 140 Boeing 737-10 jets

Avolon has finalized an agreement to purchase 140 Boeing 737-10 aircraft, marking a significant expansion of its order book. The deal represents the largest 737 MAX order placed by a lessor to date, pushing Avolon’s total unfilled orders for the type past the 240-plane mark.

The purchase highlights an industry-wide trend favoring larger, single-aisle jets. In 2026 alone, lessors have placed orders for over 230 units of the 737-10, signaling a sharp rise in demand for the largest variant of the 737 MAX compared to previous years.

Avolon CEO Andy Cronin stated the order is intended to support the long-term fleet requirements of airline clients by balancing passenger capacity with operational economics. Boeing representatives noted that the 737-10 continues to be a strategic asset for lessors aiming to modernize fleets, reduce fuel consumption, and lower operational costs in response to projected growth in passenger traffic.
