AWS and NetApp Enhance VMware Disaster Recovery Capabilities
Amazon Web Services and NetApp have introduced a joint solution to bolster disaster recovery for on-premises VMware environments. The offering integrates NetApp BlueXP Disaster Recovery with Amazon Elastic VMware Service and Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) and NetApp have unveiled a collaborative solution aimed at strengthening the protection and recovery of on-premises VMware workloads during disaster scenarios. This new offering integrates NetApp's BlueXP Disaster Recovery service with cloud-based AWS services, specifically Amazon Elastic VMware Service (EVS) and Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP.
The combined solution is designed to help organizations meet reduced recovery time objectives (RTOs) and recovery point objectives (RPOs). It leverages AWS's pay-as-you-go pricing model for cost-effective disaster recovery. The system also provides seamless integration with existing VMware tools and processes, allowing for failover testing without interrupting production virtual machines.
NetApp BlueXP Disaster Recovery functions as a Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) solution, providing robust protection for on-premises VMware environments. Its integration with AWS facilitates an efficient and flexible cloud-based DR strategy, capable of addressing threats such as ransomware, hardware failures, and natural calamities.
AWS EVS offers a managed VMware environment within the AWS cloud, while FSx for ONTAP provides scalable, high-performance storage. Together, these components establish a resilient and economical platform for disaster recovery targets. According to AWS, this partnership addresses the growing enterprise need for business continuity in the face of potential disruptions.
