AWS and Veeam partner on cloud backup service

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced a collaboration with Veeam to enable the delivery of Veeam-powered Backup as a Service (BaaS) solutions on the AWS cloud platform. This initiative is designed to simplify data protection and backup processes for enterprises by decreasing the administrative burden.

Veeam Backup & Replication (VBR) is currently used by numerous organizations for backing up workloads, both on-premises and in the cloud. The software supports various storage options, including Amazon S3 object storage, and includes features for optimizing data transfer and resource consumption. However, configuring and managing backup repositories has historically added complexity for users.

To address this, Veeam introduced its Cloud Repository feature, providing an off-site cloud backup location. Service providers can utilize Veeam Cloud Connect (VCC) to offer multi-tenant, encrypted backup services. This allows service providers to build robust BaaS offerings for their clients.

The partnership with AWS is expected to streamline the adoption of BaaS solutions. It enables businesses to concentrate on their core operations rather than dedicating resources to managing backup infrastructure. AWS's global cloud infrastructure provides the scalability and reliability necessary for these services.
