AWS Connects CloudWatch Logs to QuickSight via Athena

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced a new integration that allows users to analyze Amazon CloudWatch logs directly within Amazon QuickSight by leveraging Amazon Athena. This new capability aims to enhance data analytics by enabling users to query and visualize their CloudWatch log data through the QuickSight business intelligence service.

The integration is designed to help organizations harness real-time metrics and insights for informed decision-making. CloudWatch collects logs from various AWS services, and Athena acts as a query engine that can access this data. QuickSight then provides interactive dashboards, reports, and natural language querying capabilities based on the connected log data.

The new functionality includes steps for setting up CloudWatch logs in an Athena-compatible format, configuring the Athena connector in QuickSight as a federated data source, and creating visualizations and dashboards derived from the log data. Users can also ask natural language questions directly against their CloudWatch data.

This solution aims to provide businesses with more robust tools for data utilization and business process optimization without requiring complex data transfers. The integration is available to AWS customers using CloudWatch and QuickSight.
