AWS Database Migration Service uses AI to accelerate database migrations
Amazon Web Services is integrating its AI assistant, Amazon Q, into AWS Database Migration Service to streamline database migrations and speed up troubleshooting.

Amazon Web Services, Inc. has introduced a new AI-assisted feature within its AWS Database Migration Service (AWS DMS). This integration with Amazon Q aims to make database migrations faster and more manageable for its customers.
When connected to the service, Amazon Q acts as an AI assistant to help interpret error messages, recommend configurations, and provide contextual assistance directly within the AWS DMS management console. The goal is to reduce challenges associated with database migrations, such as time spent on troubleshooting and optimizing configurations.
AWS is also bringing AI to database schema conversion through its DMS Schema Conversion (DMS SC) service, though this article primarily focuses on accelerating the migration process itself. The new capabilities offer AI-driven recommendations and proactive issue identification to ensure smoother migration workflows.
Customers can now leverage AI assistance for quicker issue resolution, optimized configurations, and prevention of potential problems. This is intended to improve efficiency and reduce common errors during database migration projects.
