Amazon Web Services (AWS) has released new documentation for its AWS Elemental MediaTailor service, designed for channel assembly and personalized ad insertion for linear over-the-top (OTT) channels.

The service enables advertising content to be inserted at the start of a requested stream before delivery. This eliminates the need for complex, device-specific configurations, as MediaTailor generates a unique manifest file for each viewer to deliver personalized ad placements.

Ads are directly integrated into the primary content stream and can play from the same source location. This aims to reduce buffering issues caused by variable bitrates and format differences, while also making it more difficult for ad-blocking software to distinguish ads from content.

MediaTailor supports various manifest types and formats, ensuring content is viewable across a wide range of devices and players. It also provides hybrid measurement and reporting capabilities, collecting playback metrics from both the client and server sides.
