AWS expands Frankfurt cloud capacity with third availability zone
Amazon Web Services is adding a third availability zone to its Frankfurt region to support growing demand from German enterprise and public sector clients.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced during the AWS Summit in Berlin that it will launch a third Availability Zone (AZ) in its Frankfurt region by mid-2017. The move is designed to accommodate the rising demand for cloud computing resources among German businesses and public sector organizations.
By increasing the number of AZs, AWS aims to provide customers with greater high-availability options and improved disaster recovery capabilities for their applications. This addition brings the total number of AWS availability zones globally to 43 across 16 regions.
Alongside the infrastructure expansion, AWS introduced its Amazon Lightsail service to the Frankfurt region, aimed at streamlining virtual private server management. The company also announced an additional voice option for its Amazon Polly speech-synthesis service.
