AWS Invests $1 Million in AI and Sports Talent Development in China
Amazon Web Services (AWS) has partnered with the Yao Foundation to launch the "Cloud Basketball Plan," an initiative in China aimed at cultivating professionals skilled in both sports and artificial intelligence.
Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced the launch of the "Cloud Basketball Plan" in collaboration with the Peking Yao Foundation. This initiative aims to nurture talent that possesses expertise in both the sports industry and artificial intelligence.
The program involves a $1 million contribution from AWS, encompassing cash and cloud/AI resources. It leverages the Yao Foundation's extensive network of schools and experience in sports talent development. The initiative also brings AWS's global "Breaking Barriers" program to China, focusing on cloud and AI technologies.
The educational component includes training for university students, hackathons to develop AI teaching tools, and pilot implementation of these tools in primary schools. AWS will provide learning resources, workshops, and mentorship to build skills in generative AI and data science.
Furthermore, AWS will support the "Yao Foundation Basketball Season," offering resources for basketball training and competitions in schools supported by the foundation. The goal is to promote youth sports and holistic development among young people in China.
