AWS launches enhanced pricing calculator in public preview
Amazon Web Services introduces an enhanced AWS Pricing Calculator in public preview, incorporating discounts for more accurate cost estimations on new and modified workloads.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has released an enhanced AWS Pricing Calculator, now available as a public preview. The tool, integrated within the AWS Billing and Cost Management Console, aims to improve the accuracy of cost estimates for new and modified cloud workloads by including eligible discounts.
The updated calculator is designed to assist users in several key areas, including estimating costs for migrating workloads between regions, planning modifications to existing services, and strategizing for commitment purchases. This feature is expected to help customers better manage their cloud spending.
AWS has a history of providing cost estimation tools, starting with the Simple Monthly Calculator in 2007. The current AWS Pricing Calculator was launched in 2018, replacing the older tool and offering broader service coverage with a user-friendly interface. The Simple Monthly Calculator was retired in 2023 to consolidate pricing resources.
Previously, while the AWS Pricing Calculator could estimate workload costs, users had to manually factor in available discounts. This new preview version aims to automate that process, providing a more comprehensive and precise cost overview for AWS services.
