AWS Launches Native Integration Between OpenSearch and RDS Databases
Amazon Web Services has introduced a new integration that automates data synchronization between Amazon RDS, Amazon Aurora, and Amazon OpenSearch.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced the general availability of a direct integration between its Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS), Amazon Aurora, and Amazon OpenSearch Service. This new capability aims to eliminate the need for complex, custom extract, transform, and load (ETL) pipelines that organizations have historically used to sync database content with search engines.
Relational databases are standard for structured business data but often lack the capabilities for large-scale, unstructured text search or complex aggregation. Previously, maintaining search indices required significant technical overhead to ensure data consistency between transactional systems and search platforms.
With this integration, AWS enables near real-time synchronization between Aurora or RDS instances and Amazon OpenSearch. This allows developers to implement hybrid search, faceted navigation, and ranked results directly on top of their transactional database systems without the need for manual data management.
The feature supports both MySQL and PostgreSQL versions of RDS and Aurora. By streamlining the synchronization process, the service seeks to reduce latency and infrastructure maintenance for applications requiring high-throughput search capabilities.
