Axfoundation Proposes Planetary Menu for Swedish Everyday Meals
Axfoundation has developed a two-day menu adapting the Planetary Health Diet to local Swedish eating habits, aiming to reduce the environmental impact of food production.

Axfoundation has introduced a two-day menu designed to align with planetary boundaries while accommodating Swedish household cooking. The proposal draws from the EAT-Lancet Commission's Planetary Health Diet (PHD) recommendations, which aim to improve human health and global food security by reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
The EAT-Lancet report suggests that widespread adoption of the PHD could halve global food production emissions and prevent up to 15 million deaths annually. Axfoundation's initiative focuses on practical implementation within Swedish daily life, modifying popular dishes without drastic changes to familiar tastes.
In developing the menu, Axfoundation identified common Swedish home-cooked meals, such as sausage stroganoff and spaghetti with meat sauce. Minor but significant adjustments were made to these popular dishes. For instance, in sausage stroganoff, sausage and cream are partially replaced with plant-based alternatives and rice with oat rice. For spaghetti with meat sauce, red meat is substituted with a legume-based alternative or incorporates more vegetables.
