Aztec Minerals Plans 2025 Exploration Program at Mexican Gold-Copper Project
Aztec Minerals Corp. is launching a two-phase exploration program at its Cervantes gold-copper project in Sonora, Mexico. The program focuses on expanding known deposits and mapping new areas.

Aztec Minerals Corp. has commenced a two-phase exploration program at its Cervantes gold-copper project in Sonora, Mexico. The company is initiating field activities that include geological mapping and surface sampling, targeting the California East, California North, and Brasil areas.
Fieldwork will continue through June 2025, coinciding with the region's dry season. The objective is to identify new mineralization and expand the existing California discovery. Subject to initial results and market conditions, Aztec plans a potential drilling program after the rainy season, which runs from July to October. This drilling would aim to extend the California zone and potentially test the Brasil target.
The Cervantes project is located in Sonora, Mexico, within the Laramide copper belt. The area has shown significant gold and copper mineralization. Previous drilling at the California target intersected grades up to 1.49 gpt gold over 137 meters, indicating a gold-copper porphyry system beneath an oxide cap.
Broader program objectives include defining open-pit heap-leachable gold potential, investigating deeper copper-gold sulfide mineralization, and confirming the extent of mineralization at the California North, East, and Brasil targets. Aztec Minerals holds a 100% interest in the 3,649-hectare project, which has established infrastructure.
