Aztec Minerals Reports High Gold and Silver Grades at Mexican Project
Aztec Minerals Corp. has released initial results from its Cervantes gold-copper project in Sonora, Mexico. Surface exploration samples yielded up to 15.6 gpt gold and 177.3 gpt silver.

Aztec Minerals Corp. has announced preliminary findings from the initial phase of its 2025 exploration program at the Cervantes gold-copper project in Sonora, Mexico. The program, conducted in May-June 2025, involved geological mapping and outcrop sampling across several target areas.
Field teams collected 151 outcrop and subcrop samples, identifying significant precious metal mineralization. Highlights include assay results of up to 15.6 grams per tonne (gpt) gold, 177.3 gpt silver, and 8,062 parts per million copper. These findings expand the known California gold-copper porphyry system approximately 0.5 kilometers east and confirm new prospects within the Brasil, Estrella, California East, and California North target areas.
The mineralization is found in hydrothermal breccias, porphyritic, and sedimentary rocks, interpreted to be related to the underlying California porphyry complex. The company noted that steep terrain and dense vegetation have historically limited surface exposure, suggesting further potential beneath the cover.
Aztec Minerals plans to proceed with further exploration, including a potential follow-up drilling program, subject to permitting, market conditions, and funding. Future work aims to further define the oxide cap's heap leach gold potential and test for deeper copper-gold sulfide mineralization.
