B. Braun begins construction of new Technology Factory in Tuttlingen

Medical technology company B. Braun officially marked the start of construction for its new Technology Factory at its site in Tuttlingen, Germany, on Thursday. The investment in the project amounts to approximately 90 million euros.

The new facility is intended to increase production capacity and automate manufacturing processes. The construction initiative also underscores B. Braun's commitment to sustainability, incorporating an environmentally friendly energy concept that includes geothermal energy, waste heat from production, and photovoltaics to enable CO2-neutral operation.

"We are investing over 90 million euros here with the goal of further increasing our efficiency and remaining competitive," said Anna Maria Braun, CEO of B. Braun SE. She emphasized that the project demonstrates "high-tech manufacturing in Germany," despite current uncertainties.

The new factory, part of the company's Aesculap division for surgery, will employ around 350 workers. It will shift the focus from a product-oriented approach to a technology-oriented one. Products manufactured will include surgical instruments, implants, and motorized devices. Completion is scheduled for mid-2027.

The construction project is part of a broader future security agreement for the Tuttlingen site, aiming to safeguard jobs and ensure the company's competitiveness. The agreement includes provisions such as a ban on operational redundancies until the end of 2030.
