B. Braun expands production of dialysis machines and infusion pumps

Medical technology company B. Braun has significantly expanded its production facility for dialysis machines and infusion pumps in Melsungen, Germany, with an investment of approximately 60 million euros. The new, state-of-the-art facility, which commenced operations on April 21, 2026, aims to strengthen the site's future viability and secure the global supply of medical technology to hospitals and dialysis centers.

The expansion project, which took approximately three years to complete, increases production and logistics space by nearly 70 percent. The new nearly 10,000 square meter facility will allow for an expanded product portfolio and will consolidate the manufacturing of dialysis machines at a single location to improve operational efficiency.

The new production facility emphasizes automation and sustainable technology. Robot-assisted manufacturing processes, an integrated conveyor system, and an automated small parts warehouse are designed to enhance efficiency and ensure consistent quality. Furthermore, the production facility is designed to be CO2-neutral, utilizing an integrated energy concept that includes photovoltaic systems, heating and cooling technology, and a large ice storage system. This approach reduces energy consumption and optimizes the use of renewable energy sources.

In the new production halls, B. Braun manufactures equipment for treating kidney diseases and infusion pumps for precise medication delivery, used in areas such as pain and cancer therapy. The company states these products are part of integrated solutions combining devices, software, consumables, and services to improve efficiency and reliability in healthcare settings. B. Braun highlights that the Melsungen facility serves the global market.
