B. Braun Opens New ACTIVE Production Facility in Melsungen

Medical technology company B. Braun officially opened its new ACTIVE production facility in Melsungen on Monday, October 27, 2025. The investment of approximately 150 million euros is intended to significantly contribute to supply security within Germany's healthcare system and strengthen the site's competitiveness.
The new facility will fully automatically manufacture single-use medical products for infusion therapy, such as mini-spikes and combi-stoppers, using digitally networked processes. Products manufactured at ACTIVE are designed to increase infusion safety, for instance, by preventing contamination and needlestick injuries.
Hessian Minister-President Boris Rhein was among the guests at the opening ceremony. "B. Braun stands for the future, 'made in Hessen'," Rhein stated. "This new production facility is a significant asset for everyone reliant on infusions and chemotherapy."
Approximately 100 employees will work in three shifts at the ACTIVE facility. "With ACTIVE, we are setting new standards for innovation and excellence in medical technology," said Anna Maria Braun, Chairwoman of the Management Board of B. Braun SE. "We are seamlessly integrating technologies and systems, creating future-proof industrial jobs in Germany."
