B5 Road Between Tönning and Rothenspieker Reopens
The B5 federal road between Tönning and Rothenspieker in North Frisia reopened to traffic on Monday, May 4th. The six-kilometer stretch had been closed for road improvement works.

Motorists can once again use the B5 federal road between Tönning and Rothenspieker in North Frisia, reopening on Monday, May 4th. The State Office for Road Construction and Transport (LBV) has opened the six-kilometer section, marking the completion of the second construction phase between Tönning and Husum.
The B5 road between Tönning and Husum is undergoing a significant upgrade to expand it from two to three lanes over a total of 20 kilometers. This project aims to improve traffic flow and reduce accidents. The specific section that reopened, covering six kilometers, cost 40 million euros. The remaining three phases are currently in the planning approval process.
The overall expansion project for the 20-kilometer stretch is expected to take approximately ten years and cost a total of 200 million euros. This investment is intended to enhance safety and efficiency on a key transport route in the region.
LBV has stated that the final three construction phases are under planning. The completion of this project is anticipated to have a substantial positive impact on traffic conditions and road safety in the area.
