Back Market, a global marketplace for refurbished electronics, is forecasting a record year with its Gross Merchandise Volume (GMV) projected to surpass €3 billion in 2025, marking a 30% year-on-year increase. The platform connects 17 million customers globally, with significant user growth, particularly in the United States, which has become its second-largest market.

The acceleration in demand for refurbished devices is attributed to current economic conditions, including inflation and geopolitical uncertainty, prompting consumers to seek value and quality. Key markets like France, the US, UK, and Germany are showing strong double-digit growth, while Italy and Austria are experiencing triple-digit expansion.

To further drive growth and sustainability, Back Market is introducing new services. On September 15, 2025, it will launch a repair platform, initially in France, Germany, and Spain, offering device repairs to both customers and non-customers. The company is also scaling its business-to-business offering, providing refurbished IT equipment to companies aiming to reduce IT costs and meet sustainability goals.

Thibaud Hug de Larauze, Co-founder and CEO of Back Market, stated that the shift away from 'fast tech' towards durability and reuse is becoming a cultural norm. Back Market aims to make the sustainable choice the easy choice for consumers and businesses alike.
