Bacon STEM Fellowship Marks Five Years Connecting YSU Students with Businesses

The Vincent and Phyllis Bacon STEM Entrepreneurship Fellowship program has celebrated its fifth anniversary in Youngstown, Ohio. The initiative, a collaboration between YBI (Youngstown Business Incubator) and Youngstown State University (YSU), has focused on providing students with practical experience within local technology firms.
Over the past five years, the fellowship has facilitated more than 30 internship opportunities at companies within YBI's portfolio. This hands-on approach has led to four former program participants securing full-time employment with YBI-affiliated businesses. The program aims to equip students with valuable professional experience while supporting the growth of local startups.
Concentrating on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields, the fellowship seeks to foster entrepreneurship and innovation. The partnership with YSU ensures students gain tangible work experience alongside their academic studies.
