Bahrain awards $3.89 billion in investment licenses at Gateway Gulf 2026
The Kingdom of Bahrain has granted four major investment licenses totaling $3.89 billion, spanning the logistics, real estate, and technology sectors.

The Kingdom of Bahrain announced $3.89 billion in new investments during the Gateway Gulf 2026 forum held in Manama. The projects, which received “Golden Licenses,” focus on aviation logistics, hospitality, and digital infrastructure.
DHL is set to establish a regional maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) facility at Bahrain International Airport, while aviation group Capital A has committed to three projects aimed at expanding air cargo capacity and connectivity to Europe and the Far East. These investments are intended to bolster Bahrain's status as a regional logistics hub.
Real estate and technology developments are also part of the package, including a luxury hotel and residence project in Amwaj developed by Infracorp and Meliá. Additionally, the Digital City Bahrain project will create a dedicated zone for information and communication technology, education, and innovation.
The Bahrain Economic Development Board (EDB) is managing these partnerships to support economic diversification. Currently, non-oil activities account for approximately 86% of Bahrain’s GDP, a figure the government seeks to maintain through continued infrastructure and regulatory improvements.
