Bahrain awards golden licenses to four major investment projects

The Kingdom of Bahrain announced $3.89 billion in fresh capital investments across four large-scale projects during the Gateway Gulf 2026 forum in Manama. These projects, which span the aviation, logistics, real estate, and technology sectors, represent the government's continued strategy to diversify the economy away from its traditional reliance on oil.

The projects include a regional maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) facility for DHL at Bahrain International Airport and aviation expansion efforts by Capital A. Additionally, Infracorp and Meliá have committed to a luxury hospitality development in Amwaj, while the Digital City Bahrain project is intended to serve as an infrastructure hub for the technology and education sectors.

Facilitated by the Bahrain Economic Development Board (EDB), these Golden Licenses represent an effort to streamline investment processes through public-private collaboration. With non-oil activities currently accounting for approximately 86% of the nation's GDP, the government aims to leverage these projects to maintain long-term fiscal growth and regional competitiveness.
