BAIC FOTON expands manufacturing footprint in Africa
BAIC FOTON held a partner conference in South Africa, announcing new manufacturing agreements and a strategic focus on localized production.

BAIC FOTON convened a partner conference on October 29 in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, bringing together industry stakeholders from 42 countries. The event served as a platform for the Chinese commercial vehicle manufacturer to outline its strategy for deeper localization across the African market.
The company announced the signing of six new manufacturing cooperation agreements involving partners in Tanzania, Kenya, and Zimbabwe. These additions aim to bolster the company's existing network, which currently includes 16 production plants and over 300 authorized service points across 54 African countries.
Alongside the manufacturing expansion, BAIC FOTON introduced new heavy-duty truck models and plug-in hybrid vehicles. The company, which reported a 43.6% year-on-year increase in global exports for the first nine months of 2026, aims to leverage South Africa as a hub to coordinate its supply and service operations across the continent's major regions.
