The Chinese commercial vehicle manufacturer held a partner conference in South Africa, announcing new production agreements and vehicle model launches across the continent.

BAIC FOTON hosted its Africa Partners Conference in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, on October 29, gathering stakeholders from 42 nations to discuss regional growth strategies. The event emphasized a shift toward localized manufacturing and expanded service infrastructure for the manufacturer's commercial vehicle segment.
During the conference, the company finalized orders for 1,800 heavy-duty trucks destined for Ghana and Zambia. Additionally, new projects focused on electric and hybrid-drive vehicles were signed for Ethiopia, Kenya, and Mozambique. BAIC FOTON, which currently operates 16 assembly plants in Africa, confirmed six new manufacturing cooperation agreements with partners in Tanzania, Kenya, and Zimbabwe.
The manufacturer also introduced the GALAXUS R5 and C5 heavy trucks alongside the TUNLAND V PHEV pickup to its African line-up. With reported export growth of 43.6% year-on-year through September 2026, BAIC FOTON plans to leverage its existing network of 300 service points to support these new regional operations.
